I chose this accommodation for my partner's birthday, and it definitely did not disappoint! The key collection process was easy and conveniently handled from Mac's Pub in the main street of Portland. Just note that check-in is strictly from 2pm. It was a lovely 10km drive to the property - there is a scenic route or a quicker route to choose from. Directions were clear to the property and entry into the house was seamless as long as you read the instructions. I chose the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage and this historic building has stood the test of time and been restored beautifully and is magnificent. Whilst it had all the modern amenities that you could need, it was wonderfully restored retaining all the charm and beauty of its era. Separate lounge, kitchen and sunroom. It had 2 bedrooms (but 1 was locked as we only booked it with 1 bedroom) and 2 bathrooms - one bathroom had a toilet, basin and shower and the other bathroom had an easy access shower, toilet, basin and bath and was quite a big comfortable room. Sunroom faced out to a courtyard which had a spa. Laundry with washing machine and dryer, fully fitted kitchen with stove top, oven, microwave, fridge/freezer, coffee machine, dishwasher and all the crockery and kitchen utensils you would need, a massive dining table and plenty of pillows and blankets. The bed was a king and so comfy. Plenty of power points. Breakfast was provided - bacon, local eggs, butter and all sorts of jams and spreads. There was also cereal, tea, coffee - milk was also provided but the longlife small packs so if you enjoy real milk bring your own. There were alot of lovely "extra" touches too - plenty of books to read, games, wood for the fire, tv's It is windy due to being near the beach. Lots of walk to do in the vicinity - no beach as such but cliff tops, wonderful views and wildlife. I haven’t stopped raving about our stay here!

We drove up to the cottage & was met by a huge kangaroo eating the grass. It was a site to see since we don't see them in the US. I spoke with the owner & he gave me the code to the door & assured me the kangaroo won't bother us & it didn't. Just quite a bit of kangaroo poop to walk around. We saw that breakfast was included & he explained that the food was in the fridge & we had to cook it ourselves. It was a wonderful breakfast!! eggs, bacon, toast, coffee, tea. We've never stayed in a cottage like this & it was an awesome experience! We did the lighthouse tour earlier that day & were the only ones & the guide spent so much time with us, we had our own 3 hour private tour of the lighthouse. You definately must do the tour! We were on a coastal road trip & decided to stay at the cottages since it was getting late & we didn't have any lodging lined up ahead of time. I'm so glad we stayed! The fireplace & the heaters kept us warm & it provided all the amenities we needed. The owner called & checked on us about an hour later to make sure we got in & all was well. I would highly recommend the cottage! As a Travel Advisor, I will be recommending it to my clients should they be in the area.

A credit to portland, 100% recommend the head light keepers cottage, it was awesome & unexpectedly amazing. It was out of the way & somewhat isolated. The place looked like it had been recently improved, it was lovely to have a bath, fireplace, jacuzzi and much more. Beds were soft, the place was quite well kept (it must be difficult to maintain all those properties -> dust on the awnings etc). We got to see a kangaroo grazing on the grass outside the bedroom & then we saw many more also peacefully grazing. They hopped over the property line quite casually. There were rabbits in the morning. Its very easy to adjust to the space & made for such an enjoyable stay -> thank you.

The cottage was comfortable for stay. Picked up a key at Quality Hotel in the town centre and reception was friendly. Information such as access to the cottage and how to unlock the door was clear and easy to understand and there was no issue to enter the cottage. Spacious kitchen with electric cooktop, fridge, toaster, oven. Cutlery looked new. Cottage was kept clean and aircon worked fine during the stay. Comfortable sofa in the living room with large flat screen TV. Bed was comfortable too. Great location next to the lighthouse if you prefer quiet environment and if you are a nature person.

This is a brilliant and unique location with the terrific views and the a fully operational lighthouse right next to the houses. Real old world charm with excellent walks and views over the rugged coastline. Given the age of the chief lightkeepers house the accommodation was clean and very well maintained with a mix of antique furniture and more modern facilities where it mattered. Regular visits in the evening by local wildlife including wallabies and birds were also a highlight. Watching a working lighthouse at night is also pretty ethereal when misty.
